Established around the turn of the century, the original hotel became a landmark in and around Perth and the Western Suburbs. It was known for its straight forward pub approach and was greatly popular with locals and visitors alike. The acquisition of the venue by the Australian Leisure & Hospitality Group (ALH) in 2002 promised big things for the hotel and for Subiaco. The Vic has built its own reputation as a pub with a difference, catering for the needs of a wide cross section of the community - they lead the way in the provision of food, beverage and service.
